VIPP

VERNER PANTON 1992

Verner Panton made the rocking chair VIPP in cooperation with PP Møbler in 1992. The cooperation was brought about by Hans J. Wegner who recommended Panton to drop by the workshop. He had an idea for a strange piece of furniture consisting exclusively of rings. PP Møbler was the right place, since the idea could be realised through the new technique of precompression, which the workshop had just begun to master.

Since Panton loved playing with his designs, the first prototype turned out to be simply too difficult to manufacture and too complex in its expression. Nevertheless, we succeeded making a chair which Panton later referred to ‘on of my active chairs which enables you to sit dynamically’.
