Iraqui-English architect, paniter and installation artist Zaha Hadid has during the 1990’ies become internationally acclaimed for her expressive buildings. Her architecture is often descibed as deconstructivist. But is seems much more appropriate to to regrad her work as inspired by early modernism, especially Russian constructivism.
Her studio in London has by now undertaken tasks all over the world. However, it all seems to have started with the Vitra Building in Weil am Rein in 1993. The building’s steel shapes move in and out of each other, open and closed sections replace each other, creating a building which defies any ism or label.
