FREDRIK MATTSON
(1973)

(1973 -)

Frederik Mattsons collaboration with PP Møbler originally started in 2006. So far the collaboration has produced the chair 'Tivoli' which was presented at the SE-Exhibition 2007. The chair, a challenge for any craftsman, is still only a prototype, however, PP Møbler is hoping that the current experiments will be fruitful, thus making it possible to put the chair into production in the future.

Frederik Mattson, who has already achieved much international acclaim and won several international prizes, trained as a cabinetmaker, and subsequently got a degree in design at 'Konstfack', University of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm. Today he has his own design studio focusing on furniture and objects for the home. Among his designs are the chairs 'Sting' and 'Chair 69', both enjoying great success in a number of countries. His designs are simple, tight, functional, and minimalistic, but at the same time organic, playful, and light in expression. His designs are strictly uncompromising, but it is also clear that inspiration comes from the sheer joy of exploring the shape and the material and not least the infinite possibilities that arise between the two.
