CECILIE MANZ
(1972)

Cecilie Manz was long ago proclaimed one of Danish furniture design’s great new talents. In 2004 she was funded by the Arts Council, she has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and in 2007 she received 2 major Danish awards for her work.

Cecilie Manz’ design is sensuous, surprising, and interactive. Conventions and functions are transformed without ever loosing practicability. Cecilie Manz manages to open up the senses combining the familiar with sculptural sensibility.

In her own words: ‘A project can start from even the most inconspicuous situation in your daily life. Some items stay experiments or sculptural thoughts, while others materialize and return to the everyday as a functional tool.’

In collaboration with PP Møbler Cecilie Manz created the Clothes Tree as a prototype in 2000 – a piece of furniture that demonstrates her ability to transform something functional into poetry.
